Chegamos então na quinta semana da temporada de filmes sobre infância e juventude no Cine Esponja: quatro semanas desde o começo, e mais quatro até o fim…. Comemoramos este momento com talvez a mais forte e enigmática declaração sobre a relação entre o começo e o fim da vida, Zerkalo (O Espelho) de Andrei Tarkovsky. Inspirado diretamente das memórias da própria infância do mestre universal do cinema soviético, O Espelho é o quarto filme da obra de seus sete filmes, definindo o centro da vida como um fluxo de consciência, mistura livremente todos os temas e humores que nossa temporada primaveristica toca. So we arrive at the fifth week of the Cine Esponja season of movies about childhood and youth: four weeks since the start, and four more to the end…. We commemorate this moment with perhaps the strongest and most enigmatic statement about the relationship between the beginning and the end of life, Andrei Tarkovsky's Zerkalo (The Mirror). Inspired directly from the childhood memories of the universal master of Soviet cinema, The Mirror is the fourth film in his filmography of seven, defining the center of life as a stream of consciousness, freely mixing all the themes and moods that our spring season touches. Using his father's poems, Tarkovsky created an even more complex category of his own than the other films of his career, a reflection mirroring the author's subconscious: star of countless Top Ten lists of directors and critics, the film fills us in its 105 minutes with perfectly constructed poetic and dreamlike images; leading us into a state of constant fluctuation, deeper and deeper into the heights of cinema, further into a dream within the dream.
